What is INAI?

The International Negotiation on Agriculture Institute was created in June of 1999 by The
Bahía Blanca Grain Exchange, The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange
and The Rosario Board of Trade. The objective is to achieve the best possible outcomes for Argentina in the international negotiations forums, by strengthening her capabilities to negotiate.
Further on other institutions joined us, the Cordoba Grain Exchange, the Argentine Oil Industry Chamber (CIARA), the Chamber of Grains Exporters (CEC), the Argentine Wheat Flour Millers Association (FAIM)
and the Federation of Country Elevators Association.
During October of 2005, the INAI Foundation was legally created, strengthening the original entities committed with long run topics linked with the Argentine insertion into the world market.

INAI Objectives:

v
To improve the information, capacity and depth of analysis of the public and agribusiness sectors.
v
To strengthen the Argentine negotiation capability in order to improve the international insertion.
v
To generate a close, intelligent and transparent communication between the public sector and the agribusiness sector.
Since the beginning, INAI analyzed matters linked with the international agricultural negotiations, domestic agricultural policies of other countries and the insertion of Argentina in the world trade. Later on, the analysis of Argentine domestic policies that affect her world insertion was included and linked with the negotiations.
At the very beginning, the analyses of INAI were focused mainly on the problems met by the cereal and oilseed complexes in the international negotiation.
Nevertheless, the complexities of the negotiations that include multiples factors made necessary to understand the reality of other sectors, expanding our analysis to other areas. Thus, since 2002, INAI promoted and favored the dialogue with other agribusiness sector (through Working Tables), leading the coordination of the agribusiness position during the Cancun Ministerial Meeting (2003) and the Hong-Kong Ministerial Meeting (2005). Finally, since 2008, it was necessary to understand and set up links with the non agricultural sectors. This last step became a need given the critical importance that this sector achieved for the Argentine Government policies to sign international agreements.
